I recently became acquainted with Rhonda Sparks, President of UV Skinz when I posted Spring Break Sunburn?  Check Out This Great Solution and she commented on my article.  She mentioned that she lost her 32 year old husband to skin cancer.  This motivated her to educate the public about skin cancer and help prevent it by providing sun protective swim wear.  I was so impressed with her that I did a post on my guest blog titled Spring Break Lesson: Always Use Sunscreen and Provide Extra Protection With UV Skinz.  Rhonda wanted to send me a swim shirt of our choice to review on my site and then have a giveaway.  We did a drawing in our family to see who would get to pick out the swim shirt and Taylor won. 

Taylor picked out the purple popsicle swim shirt and this past weekend was the perfect time to test it out.  One of her friends invited her over to swim in their new pool.  Taylor loved the design and was thrilled to have the chance to wear it.  She put it on and said, "Mom, this is so soft and comfortable, I love it."  I told her that I wanted her opinion and I was going to take some pictures.  Then she quickly jumped off the side for the beginning of her photo shoot and review.

She wanted to make sure it was comfortable to swim in and to run around and play in.  She made a few comments, but one stood out, "I thought this would feel funny when it was wet, maybe heavy like a regular shirt.  But it is so comfortable I can't even tell I have it on."  She had it on and was out in the overcast sun for about 4 hours.  The girls even had a water balloon fight and Taylor loved the fact that she didn't have to worry about fixing a swimsuit when she was running around and throwing, etc.  While the other girls had to stop and adjust their suits, Taylor was able to keep going!

I love the fact that it protects, reduces chemicals, is comfortable, very well made and has great designs to choose from.  They have swim shirts - long and short sleeve, shorts, hats, etc. for the entire family.  I am extremely pleased with these products and knowing that my purchase helps educate others makes it even better. Rhonda mentioned that with summer days fast approaching and in honor of Skin Cancer Awareness Month in May, UV Skinz UPF 50+ swim shirt company will evangelize skin and sun health through a unique promotion to get babies and infants covered. The company will ship a free UPF 50+ protective Baby Skinz swim shirt with every order placed in May.

“The intent is for customers to ‘pay it forward,’” says Rhonda Sparks. “We hope clients will donate the Baby Skinz to a charitable cause such as a women’s shelter, YMCA or even a neighbor in need. We want to get as many children covered as we can and with each donation, we hope to raise the level of awareness that much more.” Each May shipment will contain a free UV Baby Skinz along with a flyer encouraging customers to pass along the Baby Skinz to a chosen cause. UV Skinz was able to give away about 1,850 swim shirts for the May 2008 Skin Cancer Awareness promotion. The company’s goal this year is to almost double that as supplies allow.
