It all started on 08/08/08 when Amy Krause Rosenthal began her Beckoning of Lovely project. If you haven’t heard about it you should go back and begin at the beginning. After her event on 08/08/08, she promised another event on 09/09/09 and I hope she has something else in store for us next year, on 10/10/10.
The Beckoning of Lovely is a project in which she sets out to find different things that are lovely. When she was in Houston, we shared music, singing, we texted “I love you” to someone special. We saw some beautiful photographs, we heard a few lines of poetry. In addition, we were lucky enough to hear one of my favorite authors, Katherine Center, read a portion of her book, Everyone is Beautiful. Amy also wanted us to pass it on and she gave one of the guests a fun snowglobe ring and asked her to pass it on when someone commented on it. It was really all about discovering the lovely gifts we each have inside of us and noticing the gifts other possess.
Don’t miss out on the benefits of sharing your gifts with others. If you are a writer, write. If you are a singer, sing. If you are creative, then create and if you are a teacher, teach. And don’t forget, when you share your gifts with others, you receive the gift of making someone else happy.
Take a moment today and make someone feel “lovely”. Hug your kids, kiss your spouse or call a friend. Just spread some “loveliness” around. As you watch the video below, notice the reactions, the smiles and the laughter she brings to others.
