This morning (Wednesday, March 25th) Ashton Kutcher (aplusk) asked if I would help him show his wife how much he missed her and send her a "good morning, I love U" tweet. And of course, I obliged. After all, it was the first time he had asked me to do him a favor. Plus, now I can say I was a part of a big news story.
It started this morning when I logged onto Twitter and I noticed that aplusk (Ashton) tweeted this message "45 min until the love wave. Lets make it a love tsunami!" I immediately went to his home page to see what was going on. I found out he is in Monaco and he tweeted: missing wifey already. wow it's gonna be a rough week.2:25 PM Mar 23rd
Below are the tweets he sent out to his half a million followers:
Waiting for my wife to wake up half way across the world so I can tell her good morning.about 18 hours ago from TweetDeck

At this time 9:45 a.m. Central everyone starts tweeting messages to Demi (mrskutcher). I know Twitter gave me the "Over Capacity" message several times over the next 5-10 minutes. Then he sends out another I miss you to Demi and a thank you to everyone.
Later that day, I heard she received about 3,600 messages within a few minutes. And I checked again around midnight and she was still getting "love messages" from the people that missed the "love wave tsunami".
She did respond with this tweet, "I am so stunned by this incredible outpouring of love that I can barely move."
One thing I noticed was the impact it made on his followers. Some of the married ones recognized that thoughtful surprising gestures go a long way in a relationship. I remember the early days of marriage, when I sent sweet messages and cards. I can't remember the last time I did that. So, I will commit to doing that soon.
I want to thank Ashton and Demi for reminding us to be thoughtful and creative in how we express our love.
And one more thing, thanks for saving me a trip to a marriage counselor.
